Genotype-correlated Parental Influences in Two Strains of Mice.
نویسنده
چکیده
In order to separate genetic from postnatal parental influences, 2 strains of mice were reared during infancy by foster parents of the same 2 strains in the 4 possible combinations. Offspring of both the BALB/c and C57BL/10 strains engaged in more visual exploration at 60 days of age (p < .001), weighed more at weaning and at 60 days of age (p < .001), and had a higher probability of survival to weaning (p < .001) if reared by BALB/c rather than C57BL/10 foster parents. The possible role of differential parental handling in contributing to these effects was considered and the implications of the findings for the study of the inheritance of behavior were discussed.

Carcass traits and physical characteristics of eggs in Japanese quail as affected by genotype, sex and hatch
The effect of genotype, sex and hatch on carcass traits and physical characteristics of eggs was investigated in the Japanese quail. Two strains of Japanese quails including the White (P1) and Wild (P2) genotypes were chosen as the parental generation and crossed reciprocally (10 single-pair mating) to create the F1 progeny. The F1 birds (27 males and 81 females) were mated randomly to produce ...
متن کاملGenotype Probabilities at Intermediate Generations in the Construction of Recombinant Inbred Lines
The mouse Collaborative Cross (CC) is a panel of eight-way recombinant inbred lines: eight diverse parental strains are intermated, followed by repeated sibling mating, many times in parallel, to create a new set of inbred lines whose genomes are random mosaics of the genomes of the original eight strains. Many generations are required to reach inbreeding, and so a number of investigators have ...
متن کاملTransmission of bovine spongiform encephalopathy and scrapie to mice.
Transmission from four cases of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) to mice resulted in neurological disease in 100% of recipient animals, after incubation periods of between 265 and 700 days post-injection. The results from the four cases were very similar to one another. There were major differences in the incubation period between the four inbred strains of mice tested, and even between s...

Objective: The present research aimed to predict substance use tendency based on outcome expectancies, parental monitoring, and resistance to peer influences. Method: The research method was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population of the research included all students of Shahid Beheshti University of Tehran in 2019-2020, of which 419 people were selected using convenience sampling...
متن کاملThe Interplay Between Genotypes and Family Relationships Reframing Concepts of Development and Prevention
Children’s genotypes and their social relationships are correlated throughout their development. Heritable characteristics of children evoke strong and specific responses from their parents; frequently, these same heritable characteristics also influence the children’s adjustment. Moreover, parental heritable traits that influence their parenting are also transmitted to children and influence t...
